Bottom o Narae 2!
It has potential, but I'm very worried. Episode 1 did nothing to dispell my fears that, based on the art that had been released earlier, this is another fanboy, panty shots & boobs, anime from Gainax (ala Yamaga's embarassingly bad Mahoromatic). This seems to be Gainax's new direction and I for one am not a fan of it at all. Panty shots I can live with, but the completely unneccessay nudity in episode 1 (yes, I got the joke - but it's still gratuitous), the tone and the style, just did nothing for me. I hated the designs from Giant Robo and they Buster designs in Top o Narae 2 look suspiciously similar. The alien design was pretty cool, and some of the character designs are nice (the space pilot in particular was well done...) but other than that I'm not seeing anything I like.
I believe this is a six episode OAV, so there's plenty of time for things to get better, and judging by Tsurumaki's work with FLCL he can definitely pull it off. But Episode 1 was average at best. Oh well.
